Announcing the UFS Short-Range Weather Application (SRW App) v2.0.0 release

The UFS community is proud to announce the public release of the UFS Short-Range Weather Application v2.0.0 (SRW App) on 06/23/2022. A news article could be found at the EPIC-NOAA website: https://epic.noaa.gov/short-range-weather-application-srw-2-0-0-released/ .

This newly updated weather application is designed for short range (up to two days) regional forecasts located anywhere on the globe. It contains the Common Community Physics Package (CCPP) v6.0.0, version 10.1.0 of the Unified Post Processor (UPP) and version 3.0.0 of the UFS Weather Model.

The SRW documentation for this release v. 2.0.0 has been significantly enhanced and numerous test cases with all associated data files are now available to the public. The User’s Guide at https://ufs-srweather-app.readthedocs.io/en/release-public-v2 guides the users on the steps needed to download, build and run this highly portableApp, on a variety of platforms, from the HPC systems to cloud environments to Ubuntu Linux and Mac OS systems. The model code is available through the GitHub repository https://github.com/ufs-community/ufs-srweather-app.

The SRW App results from a collaboration between several cooperative institutes and universities, the Developmental Testbed Center (DTC), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and its Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC).
